Garden Design
Don’t know your dahlias from your daises?
HADA offers clients a cost effective bespoke garden and landscape design service for all sizes whether residential or commercial.
We work closely with our clients offering a personal service. Gardens have to work hard - they are our outdoor living room, larder, play space, and sanctuary. Gardens are organic living entities and need to look good all year round. For this reason, we create planting plans for every season.
Whilst we are based in Brixham, south Devon, we work across the whole of the SW and as far London!
Right plant right place
We will select plants that suit your aspect as well as your personal taste. Not everyone knows about plants and sometimes it can be daunting - we will hand hold you through plant selection and leave you with instructions on how to tend for your garden.
How do we work?
Stage 1:
Firstly we undertake a site visit and meet with you to discuss a design brief. We will look at your lifestyle, personal tastes, garden aspect and soil, discuss budget and timescales - this consultation is usually free in the Torbay area.
Stage 2: Concept design
We then respond with a written design brief and with some precedent images, i.e pictures of other completed gardens, to start ideas flowing. We will prepare some hand drawn concept sketches and plans for discussion to be developed in detail. This stage also includes a meeting. For this we require a small non-refundable fixed fee in advance to cover our time.
Stage 3: Detailed design
If you choose to proceed, we will provide you with a quote for developing the design in detail, technical plans, outline construction budget and programme. We will also check for planning restrictions and provide a written contract.
This stage normally includes -
-
Detailed measured site survey
-
Third meeting to discuss final concept
-
Development of final scheme ideas with sketches and mood boards plus materials
-
Presentation of 2D scaled plan drawings showing hard and soft landscaping
-
Presentation of 3D garden design visuals (if required - this is normally an extra fee)
-
Provide specifications to issue for tender hardworks construction
-
Presentation of detailed planting plan with estimate for supply and installation of planting
-
On-going monitoring to ensure the project runs smoothly and to check quality of build and integrity of design
Stage 4: Construction
-
Site clearance and ground work preparation
-
Hardworks construction
-
Supply and install soil and planting
Stage 5: Aftercare
-
An optional service is available for after-care of planting and garden maintenance
The garden was in a poor state of repair and needed new fencing, steps and terrace using cedar, concrete and terrazzo.

Helen designed and project managed a complete new garden for us in 2015. She worked with the architects plans (A2 Studios) and our list of preferences to create a really distinctive design which we loved. The process of doing the work was very smooth. Helen was very flexible and always went the extra mile. We are really delighted with the result and can’t wait for summer!
