Town Wharf, Brentford
The Town Wharf is intended to be a new cultural quarter breathing life back into the heart of the town centre within easy walking distance of residential areas.
A new arts centre will overhang the water’s edge and boardwalk to echo the old warehouse, carving out the earth to create a dry dock with terraced seating for outdoor performance space. The capacity of the canal basin will be increased and access improved for houseboat owners.
The angled south facing rooftop of the arts centre will be terraced for food production.
Materials will echo the piled sheet steel cofferdam construction of the surrounding canal walls whilst floor finishes will echo the industrial nature of the site with recycled and tumbled bricks and timber decking.
